The C.H.I.P.S. 2026 Honoree Avery Colvert
Avery Colvert is a 15-year-old with a big heart and a powerful sense of purpose. Born in Nashville and now living in Los Angeles, Avery was an eighth grader at Eliot Arts Magnet Academy in Altadena when the 2025 Eaton Fire devastated her community. Her school was destroyed, and many of her friends lost everything.
Wanting to create real support and connection for girls navigating loss and disruption, Avery founded Altadena Girls — a nonprofit building vibrant, welcoming, girl-powered spaces for teen girls. She runs the organization alongside her mom, Lauren Sandidge, founder and president.
From the beginning, their work has drawn support from celebrities including Paris Hilton, Meghan Markle, Kerry Washington, Demi Lovato, and Charli XCX, as well as brands like Urban Outfitters, Fabletics, and Alice & Olivia, among many others. In 2025, Avery became the youngest-ever recipient of the TIME100 Impact Award.
Altadena Girls opened its permanent community space in Pasadena this October — a space built for girls, by girls, designed to foster belonging, creativity, confidence, and resilience through year-round programming.
And for Avery, the mission is simple: creating moments where girls feel seen, supported, and proud of who they are.
